Police: Fugitive on the loose after deadly shootout with U.S. Marshals in Pocatello

A dangerous fugitive is on the loose after a deadly shootout with U.S. Marshals in Pocatello Saturday night.

At around 10 p.m., U.S. Marshals were involved in a vehicle pursuit resulting in the suspect's car crashing at the corner of North 6th Avenue and East Sublette Street.

Police said task force members were attempting to arrest Richard "Rocky" Iverson on a Bingham County Sheriff's Office arrest warrant for Failure to Appear, stemming from charges of Lewd and Lascivious Acts with a minor.

Iverson exited the car with an unidentified man. Task force members engaged in a foot pursuit with the two men, when the unidentified man fired at them.

A Deputy U.S. Marshal returned fire, striking the gunman. The man was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Iverson was able to escape and fled eastbound.

Iverson is described as being around 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. He has balding brown hair, brown eyes, and has tattoos on his neck, arms, and hands. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Police said If anyone knows his whereabouts or sees him, contact law enforcement.

The Bannock County Sheriff's Office is the lead investigative agency for the shooting incident.
